Results of
rapeseed emergence and growth in the Lviv region: demonstration plots using the
Czajkowski Strip-Till method
In August
2026, the ‘Tekhno-Dvir’ team carried out another demonstration sowing of
rapeseed using the Czajkowski Strip-Till method. This time, the sowing took
place in the Lviv region, Stryi district, in the village of Holobutiv.
Sowing took
place from 9 to 12 August using a Czajkowski STK 400 machine, directly onto
wheat stubble. Initial observations of the field already allow us to assess
seedling emergence and the plants’ subsequent development.
One of the
distinctive features of the Strip-Till technology is strip tillage. Instead of
full-width tillage, the machine works directly on the area of the future row,
whilst a significant portion of the surface between the rows remains untilled
and covered with crop residues.
During the
demonstration sowing in the village of Holobutiv, the Czajkowski STK 400
operated on wheat stubble, preparing the sowing strip and creating conditions
for seed placement.
This format
of demonstration sowing is particularly important to us, as it allows us to
assess the technology’s performance not only whilst the machine is passing
through the field, but also based on the actual development of the crop after
sowing.
The
condition of the crops was recorded on various dates to track the growth
dynamics of the rapeseed:
- 18 August
2026 – the first stage of monitoring emergence following sowing.
- 27 August
2026 – the next assessment of the field’s condition and the subsequent
development of the young plants.
The
photograph clearly shows how the crops have changed over this period. The
rapeseed continued to grow vigorously and produce young plants in the seed
rows.
For
‘Tekhno-Dvir’, the Czajkowski demonstration crops provide an opportunity to
showcase the technology under real-world conditions on Ukrainian farms and to
track the entire process: from the passage of the machinery and the emergence
of the first shoots to the crop’s subsequent development.
That is
precisely why the work on this field does not end after sowing. We continue to
monitor the rapeseed in the village of Holobutiv and record changes during the
subsequent stages of the growing season.
