Mistakes when choosing a bucket for a telescopic loader
A properly selected bucket is not just an
attachment, but a tool that directly affects productivity, equipment life and
business costs. However, typical mistakes are often made when choosing one.
1️. Ignoring material density
The bucket should be selected for the materials
you actually work with. If the equipment is designed for up to 1000 kg/m³ but
is used for denser material, this will overload the boom and hydraulics and
cause premature wear.
2️. Incorrect volume
A larger bucket does not mean a more efficient
one. Excessive volume with heavy material reduces the stability of the machine
and increases the load on the frame.
3️. Incompatibility with the loader model
Different machines have different load capacity
and boom geometry characteristics. For example, Manitou, JCB or Merlo equipment
has its own technical features and the bucket must correspond to them.
4️. Saving on steel material
The thickness and grade of steel matter.
Structural alloy steel and wear-resistant blades (e.g. HARDOX 500)
significantly extend the service life of the equipment.
5️. Ignoring tasks
A grab bucket is needed for silage, wood chips,
manure or green mass. For pallets, forks are needed. For large volumes of bulk
materials, a different configuration is required. One universal option does not
cover all needs.
The right choice is a balance between volume,
material density, equipment load capacity and type of work.
