Warranty and post-warranty repairs
When equipment breaks down, it is important to clearly understand what type of service is available to you: warranty or post-warranty. This determines not only the cost of the repair, but also the terms and conditions, timeframe and scope of the work.
What is a warranty repair?
A warranty repair is a service carried out free of charge under the manufacturer’s warranty obligations.
Key warranty terms:
- valid for a specified period (e.g. 2,000 operating hours or a defined service life);
- covers manufacturing defects and technical faults;
- servicing is carried out by an authorised service centre;
- compliance with operating instructions and maintenance schedules is mandatory.
Important: the warranty does not cover damage caused by improper use, overloading or delayed maintenance.
In simple terms: if the fault is not the user’s fault, the manufacturer will cover the repair costs.
What is post-warranty repair?
Post-warranty repair is the servicing of equipment after the warranty period has expired or in cases not covered by the warranty terms.
What it includes:
- repair and replacement of worn parts;
- restoration of components and assemblies;
- modernisation of the equipment where necessary;
- full technical support during operation.
In this case, all maintenance costs are covered by the equipment owner.
Why regular maintenance is important
Timely maintenance is the key to ensuring your equipment operates reliably and efficiently for the long term. It allows you to:
- avoid major breakdowns;
- reduce repair costs;
- extend the service life of your equipment;
- ensure consistent performance.
Experience shows that regular maintenance is significantly cheaper than repairs following a major breakdown.
Warranty repairs protect you against manufacturing defects, whilst post-warranty maintenance helps keep your equipment in working order throughout its entire service life. Both stages are vital for the effective running of your business.
